Get to Know Bromelain

Bromelain a proteolytic protein-digesting enzyme derived from raw pineapple stems, breaks down a broad spectrum of proteins, has  anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrin properties; is an antibiotic and is effective over very wide pH range. 

Bromelain is absorbed intact through the gastrointestinal tract, with the highest concentration of bromelain being found in the blood one hour after administration. However, its proteolytic activity is rapidly deactivated by food so make sure you take it on an empty stomach.

Bromelain has anti-platelet aggregating properties so it can lower HBP  and help your blood to flow freely. Bromelain has been shown in clinical practice to be an excellent adjunctive treatment for upper respiratory problems such as chronic bronchitis and acute sinusitis.

Osteoporosis is an Easily Solved Problem for Women AND Men

Osteoporosis a weakening of the bone is often thought of as a woman’s problem but men please take note, almost 30% of hip fractures, the most serious bone fracture, occur in men and 1 in 8 men over age 50 will have an osteoporotic fracture. Perhaps we should work together with our wives to avoid this man made scourge. Osteoporosis is strongly associated with low levels of magnesium, vitamin D, vitamin K  and boron. Postmenopausal women with osteoporosis respond favorably and rapidly to weight bearing exercise, higher levels of vitamin D plus vitamin K, boron, calcium, magnesium and if required progesterone.

IMO osteoporosis is a condition often resulting from ignorance of the basic bone building process and pseudo-medical propaganda by milk manufactures and others. I cannot guarantee you will not get osteoporosis if you follow this protocol but I believe it will work for 99 + % of you. It does not matter how poor your bones are currently they WILL RESPOND rather quickly to the proper actions on your part! Osteoporosis is one of the easiest health problems for YOU to solve because it is almost ALL under your direct control. Solve your osteoporosis problem in your relative youth and you will be ahead of the game.

You Must be Aware of Hyper-Coagulated Blood

When you get cut you want a clot of form and the wound to heal. You do not want to bleed to death. OTOH you do not want clots to form inside your body for no good reason. In order to do this your body has evolved extremely complex systems. Over 40% of the 50,000 or so proteins in your body are involved in this complex process.

As we age the blood clotting mechanism tilts toward over clotting for many people. One result is what is called “Thick” or Hyper-coagulated Blood. This can be a factor in MANY serious health problems including cardiovascular disease, cancer and other diseases. Doctor Gary Gordon believes "abnormal blood clots" are involved in 80% of all deaths.

Aspirin drastically depletes the vitamin C from your body. This leaves you at risk for many serious problems to include CVD and others. Most people are carrying much less than optimal levels of vitamin C to begin with and cannot afford to lose ANY vitamin C. This will drastically weaken your arteries as well as MANY body structures as it impedes your collagen production.

Breast, prostate, skin and colon cancer have a strong association with low levels of vitamin D and lack of sunlight. Doctor Mercola recommends getting your vitamin D levels  up to at least 70 ng/ml. IMO the most important thing a woman with breast cancer or seeking to avoid breast cancer, can do is to spend a few hours researching vitamin D.

The simple primal act of getting LOTS of the high noon sun on your bare “unprotected” skin in large amounts just may be the most important single thing you can do for your health. If the sun casts a shadow longer than you are tall you cannot make adequate vitamin D from the sun. You MUST take vitamin D3 at the daily rate of about 1000 IU/20 pounds of body weight.  

If you are currently afraid of the sun just take the vitamin D3 supplements until your fear has been removed by research into the sun and skin cancer.

Selenium an Essential Mineral most People Lack

Selenium an antioxidant, antiinflammatory, anti-viral, anti-retroviral, immuno-stimulatory, chelating mineral is a VERY important mineral for your health. Selenium is deficient in the soils surrounding the major population centers in this country. Most of the food we eat in some of the areas of the US is almost totally devoid of the minerals magnesium and selenium due to inherently low soil levels and the poor farming practices of our agriculture industry.  Selenium has been shown to be deficient in most of the population. A Selenium deficiency may worsen the effects of iodine deficiency on your thyroid function. Selenium deficiency may play a role in autoimmune disease. A Selenium deficiency can condemn you to a rapid death by AIDS should you contract AIDS. Make sure you get at least 400 mcg/day of selenium IMO especially if you suffer from any chronic distributed muscle pain.

Weight Bearing Exercise Builds Bones Best

The best way to avoid or treat osteoporosis is weight bearing exercise  Stressing your bones will make the bone stronger. If you are right handed your right arm and right leg have greater bone masses than your left ones, often as much as 8% more. They have this greater mass and STRENGTH because you use them more. Incidentally just because a bone has greater mass does not always mean that bone is stronger. As we see modern wonder drugs such as the bisphosphonates can build bones with greater mass that are weaker and more likely to fracture.

On my kitchen counter are 18 quart bottles of spices and herbs. EVERYTHING I prepare to eat gets a good unmeasured shaking of herbs and often some spices. Most of my teas and drink concoctions will receive LOTS of spices. You can easily double your anti-oxidant and other nutrient intake this way.

Herbs and spices often have antiseptic, anti-bacterial, anti-CANCER, anti-fungal,anti-inflammatory, anti-parasitic, antimicrobial, anti-congestive and anti-diarrheal properties; they impart a flavor and zing without adding calories which aids digestion and have many other salubrious properties.

I buy herbs often by the five pound lot.

There are over one hundred body products, foods, vitamins, minerals, supplements and procedures that have high antioxidant properties. Antioxidants keep free radicals from destroying your body by donating an electron and quenching the free radical rendering it harmless. An antioxidant value of foods has been measured, the ORAC value.

A recent study showed that women taking a daily antioxidant supplement had measurably longer telomeres than the controls. This indicates a probability of a longer live. 

You are probably NOT getting Enough Omega 3 EFAs

Your body cannot make the EFAs so you MUST eat them. There are very few good sources of Omega 3 EFAs in the American diet. This is why there is a strong possibility, almost a certainty, that YOU are not currently getting enough of the absolutely critical Omega 3 EFAs. You MUST learn these few sources and WORK to include them in your diet. It is not easy but it is essential that you provide your body with this essential fat.

Vitamin C and Cardiovascular Disease

Most animals that produce ascorbate from glucose in their own bodies do NOT get Cardio Vascular Disease. This is an important clue to CVD. If YOU make sure YOU get at least 3 grams of ascorbate a day YOU will probably not get CVD. It is just that simple. Of course there are LOTS of other things you SHOULD do to prevent 99%+ of possible CVD.

Ascorbate is the natural form of vitamin C as found in food. Ascorbic acid is a component of ascorbate. A good natural source of ascorbate is acerola cherry. As ascorbate is destroyed by heat eating your food as raw as possible will give you more ascorbate.

Saturated fat is easy to recognize because it is usually solid at room temperature. Humans have eaten animal products for most of their existence on earth and therefore they have consumed saturated fats for their entire existence. To say these saturated animal fats are harmful to humans is just plain silly. Folks ya got to remember one thing WE ARE ANIMALS!  We are constructed of saturated fatty acids in large part. When an animal eats us it ingests plenty of saturated fat.

Welcome to the Healthy Protocols Blog. I will herein attempt to supply you with easy to remember health tips that will hopefully simplify and make your life more healthy. A full rational will be 
given for each tip. Your health is almost COMPLETELY in YOUR hands. Well you do need the co-operation of the man upstairs. The new science of epigenetics has shown us that our daily habits, what we eat and do not eat; what we drink and do not drink, what we do and do not do is DAILY effecting our genome and thus our health, enjoyment of life and our longevity.
